Alonso Gutiérrez
Alonso Gutiérrez Espinosa (1937) is a painter and teacher of plastic arts, Mexican, born in Mérida, Yucatán. He trained at the Spanish school of Manuel Benedito Vives and Julio Moisés
He studied painting in his native land with private teachers, after which he moved in 1958 to Mexico City to enter the workshop of José Bardasano Baos and the San Carlos Academy. Later he traveled to Spain and worked in the Círculo de Bellas Artes and in the workshops of painters Julio Moisés and Manuel Benedito who exerted great influence in his pictorial work, particularly in his portraiture.
He has exhibited in Madrid, Paris, Mexico and of course in his native land, particularly in the temporary and permanent halls of the Contemporary Art Museum of Yucatan. He has been a master of plastic arts at the Institute of Fine Arts of Yucatan and also coordinator of his painting workshops.
