Last Wednesday, June 29, the first Hartii Talk was held at the Hartii facilities in Mérida, Yucatán.
The event began with a few words from Brenda Carrión, art director of Hartii, and the talk was given by the plastic artist Javier Barrera, who is also a teacher in the Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Autonomous University of Yucatán. This was entitled "Appreciation of Contemporary Art through its authors" and touched on topics that help the viewer and anyone interested in art to understand what we now call Contemporary Art.
Javier Barrera spoke about the importance of having an open mind in order to enjoy art, since when someone defines art exactly, it would die completely – “To define it is to limit it”, Oscar Wilde would say. He also explained 3 denominations in which art can be separated to better understand its role today: Emerging, Dominant and Decadent; as well as the various categories that make it up, such as: the beautiful, the grotesque, the sublime and the tragic, to name a few.
The night was a success, during the talk the attendees participated and enriched the event with their comments, reactions and questions. Finally, Brenda Carrión gave a certificate to the speaker as thanks and recognition for her collaboration in the beginning of this project.
In the future, more talks of this type will be held organized by the Hartii team, which will feature the participation of various speakers who are knowledgeable about the art, sharing their passion and wisdom about it.
It is estimated that the Hartii Talks are suitable and open to all audiences, that is, you do not need to be an avid connoisseur to attend, just have an interest in art. The announcements of each of these talks will be published and shared - with the cost of registration, date, time, place and the rest of the pertinent data - within the social networks: Facebook, Instagram and through the Newsletter, which reaches mail from our subscribers each month.
We hope you can join us on the path of this new project that promotes one of Hartii's main reasons: to share and spread art within the Yucatan Peninsula. Thank you for sharing your passion for art with us.
